about
“i know nothing is a fight back against those people who are so quick to put the blame on the younger generation. in a world full of misinformation and judgement it only reveals the true intentions of how miserable people’s lives must be as they are so quick to jump on the bandwagon and applaud or point out people’s failures or vulnerabilities. instead we should be lifting people up when we see them fall. social media can and should be used as a tool for connection and good but instead it serves to gloat and punch down. it fails to show the harsh reality we live in, which can lead to isolation and depression. lets lift each other up” - slowthai
lyrics
I know nothing
My whole generation misguided
We are one and the same
It cuts me deep
I pray understanding that I won’t be heard
I’m in line like everyone else there’s no exception
I lay still with my legs shaking out of anxiety
Some people ain’t comfortable with their sexuality
It must be awful to wake up and live a lie
Society tells us we need money we need a mortgage
We fall into what’s expected instead of what we want
Greed fuels the hungry and no gives a fuck
We rely on a system that’s failed us
We’re in prison waiting for a day off
Social media distorts our perception of reality
Because everyone seems happy but in fact they’re miserable
That’s why they need gratification from strangers
Sometimes I look in the mirror and reflect on what I used to be
Before the people I loved started using me
I know nothing
I’m just getting older
I know nothing
I’m just getting older
I know nothing
I’m just getting older
I know nothing
I’m just getting older
I know nothing
I’m just getting older
My whole generation misguided
We are one and the same
It cuts me deep
I pray understanding that I won’t be heard
I’m in line like everyone else there’s no exception
I lay still with my legs shaking out of anxiety
Some people ain’t comfortable with their sexuality
It must be awful to wake up and live a lie
Society tells us we need money we need a mortgage
We fall into what’s expected instead of what we want
Greed fuels the hungry and no gives a fuck
Sometimes I look in the mirror and reflect on who I used to be
Before the people I loved started using me
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older
I know nothing
I keep getting older

This is one of my favourite albums of all time, for sure. It's very emotionally vulnerable, and in a way that creates great art. Everything is produced perfectly, every track stands out and plays a part. And his vocal performance is incredible. And the lyricism. It's a really good album hzrn vm
Listening to this a few years on, Chapter 319 feels almost melancholic, a reminder of the time where police abolition had nearly mainstream appeal. The tracks still make me furious at the bullshit cops continue to get away with. dninemfive
